Wesleyan Readings (#2): The Father

WORSHIP LEADER: We believe the Father is the Source of all that exists, whether of matter or spirit.[1]

CONGREGATION: Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. (James 1:17)

WORSHIP LEADER: With the Son and the Holy Spirit, He made man, male and female, in His image.[2]

CONGREGATION: And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. (2 Cor. 1:21-22)

WORSHIP LEADER: By intention He relates to people as Father, thereby forever declaring His goodwill toward them.[3]

CONGREGATION: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” (Luke 2:14)

WORSHIP LEADER: In love, He both seeks and receives penitent sinners.[4]

CONGREGATION: See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. (1 John 3:1)

EVERYONE: To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. (Phil. 4:20)
