Wesleyan Readings (#3): The Son of God

WORSHIP LEADER: We believe in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, truly God and truly man.[1]

CONGREGATION: All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. (John 1:3)

WORSHIP LEADER: He died on the cross and was buried, to be a sacrifice both for original sin and for all human transgressions, and to reconcile us to God.[2]

CONGREGATION: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

WORSHIP LEADER: Christ rose bodily from the dead, and ascended into heaven, and there intercedes for us at the Father’s right hand until He returns to judge all humanity at the last day.[3]

CONGREGATION: The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. (2 Pet. 3:9)

WORSHIP LEADER: He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high (Heb. 1:3)

CONGREGATION: nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Rom. 8:39)

EVERYONE: Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Eph. 3:20-21)
