Just Resting

A hymn on the peace that comes from trusting God. This was my first hymn, written right after Christmas 2019, the day my Grammi passed away. “I’m just resting, resting in His love”, were words of hers close to that moment.

Father, oh Father. Let me tell You all the things my mind pursues.

I love Your presence, like the wind and the providence within.

Lord, I long for constant fellowship with You.

All Your mercy and your grace, I love it all but not with haste.

Lord I long for constant fellowship with You.

Refrain:

I’m just resting. Resting in His love.

Resting in the comfort of almighty God above.

Softly, freely, with all my hope and trust.

Never to be severed by the death or sin of us.

Never to be severed by the death or sin of us.

Teacher, oh Teacher. The only good in me is the image of You.

I love Your justice and Your wrath; Lord I’ll still rejoice in that.

I hope You see Your Son in all I do.

You’re the means and You’re the end. Lord rid me of my sin.

I hope You see Your Son in all I do.

Spirit, Holy Spirit. Perhaps my heart might be a parsonage for You.

Convict my mind so I might see all the pestilence in me.

Lord I long for constant fellowship with You.

Hold me close dear spotless Lamb, despite the sinful child I am.

God, I hope you see Your Son in all I do.
